The story of ‘Ek Villain Returns’
The story of this film revolves around the character Bhairav (John Abraham). He is a lover. He loves Rasika (Disha Patani) very much. But Rasika has rejected Bhairav’s love. Bhairava cannot tolerate this. Meanwhile, singer RV (Tara Sutaria) is kidnapped in the story. RV is kidnapped from her house under mysterious circumstances. Another lover in the story Gautham (Arjun Kapoor) is RV’s lover. He is responsible for RV’s sudden disappearance. While searching for the RV, Gautham encounters Bhairav. Although the story of director Mohit Suri’s film is simple, there are many twists in it. These twists can be seen till the very last frame. The story of this film has many streams. So it seems that more effort could have been spent on editing. This would have created a better balance between the first half and the second half of the film. It would have been a more interesting, romantic thriller movie if the story had a little more twist. In order to speed up the screenplay and strengthen the dialogues, the focus of the writer is seen to have shifted a little from the main characters of the film. As a result, the characters seem to be disconnected from each other.
Besides, the film shows more negativity towards women, which could have been removed. This takes the story away from love, distance, rejection of love and the pain it causes. The characters of Shaad Randhawa and JD Chakraborty could have been worked on a bit more. A great performance of the police has been seen in this film. Had it been presented better in the story, it would have proved better on screen.
The song ‘Galiyan’ from the movie ‘Ek Villain’ was a super hit. In this sequel film, the new version of the same song is heard again and again, which sounds great. But apart from this, there is no other song that leaves its mark. So this movie seems to fall short for a romantic thriller.
None of the film’s lead actors are strong enough to be singled out. The same can be seen in acting. The share of other co-stars is also not much. Everyone has an opportunity to work within a limited framework. If these characters had been given a bit more chance, the cast would have had a chance to show something good on a personal level. Overall ‘Ek Villain Returns’ has a lot of twists and turns in terms of romantic-thriller, but neither the characters nor their story leaves a special impression on the audience.
