Asha Parekh said – forgetting our culture, copying western
Asha Parekh, who received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, said about the dance, ‘We have forgotten our dance. What we are doing is that we are copying western dance. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an exception. You can see our culture to a large extent in his films and dance. You all will agree with me that the kind of dance we are seeing these days is not our style. This is not our culture. We have such a rich tradition of dance. Every state has its own dance style. And what are we doing? We are trying to imitate the western dance style.

Asha Parekh further said, ‘Sometimes it seems that we are doing aerobics, we are not dancing. Seeing this hurts my heart.’ Asha Parekh also objected to the remixes of the songs. Not only many of his songs have been remixed till now. Asha Parekh said, ‘The remixes are very bad. The sweetness which is in the original song, it is not in the remix. When remixing, only drums play and all those sweet words go out.
Started as a child artist, ‘Dil Deke Dekho’ gave stardom
Asha Parekh started her acting career as a child artist. Since childhood, she was also taking training in classical dance.
